My Aspiration

I believe everyone must have encountered the essay topic “My Aspiration” during primary school, a mandatory task in Chinese class. Do you still remember what your aspiration was? Did you dismiss it with a laugh when faced with this childhood question, or did you take it seriously at the time?

My aspiration was to become a philanthropist. I still remember during the early stages of my entrepreneurship, one day after a meal, I shared my ideals with my father. He gave me an unforgettable piece of advice: “Before becoming a philanthropist, become someone with a stable career, strength, and influence. That way, you will achieve more with less effort!” The seed was planted in my heart back then.

Today, in 2017, I established the “Love and Compassion Education Fund,” which is deeply cherished by me. I initiated the “Love to Share” program, aiming to provide full fee waivers for English phonics education and the opportunity to attend international kindergartens to low-income families in the Sham Shui Po district. I believe knowledge can change destinies, and quality education should be shared by all. Through this program, I hope to lay a solid foundation for low-income children in kindergarten, enable them to enroll in quality primary and secondary schools, and eventually enter university, contributing to society and breaking the cycle of poverty, becoming individuals who make a positive impact on society.

I am grateful that the program has begun to yield results. Over the years, we have subsidized more than 200 students to attend English and international kindergarten courses. Some underprivileged students who have completed the ABC International Kindergarten program have successfully enrolled in quality government schools, with full fee waivers secured for them.

This time, receiving the “Extraordinary Philanthropic Women Entrepreneur Award” is not only an affirmation for me but also a gift to my parents who are watching over me from above. The seed my father planted in my heart has now sprouted. I hope this belief can inspire more people who share the same conviction, allowing this beautiful spirit of mutual assistance and love to bear more fruit and make our society more beautiful.
